He is survived by: his parents, Gibb McGowan and Kathryn McGowan; his brother Wayne Gibbons "Penn" McGowan; his grandparents, Buddy McGowan of Covington, Mac McGowan of Covington and Mary McGowan of Covington; his great-grandparent John Primo of Covington; and his uncles, Daniel Cocke, Annie Cocke of Mason, John Michael, Ali Spoon of Covington, Sean Pigg and Mims Pigg of Germantown.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorials be sent to the First Presbyterian Church at 403 S Main St, Covington, TN 38019.
