He was predeceased by: his parents, Nathan Birdwell and Rosa Birdwell; and his siblings, Floyd Birdwell, Bob Birdwell, Willa Sue Braswell, Lela Ruth Stancil and Emma Gregory.
He is survived by: his wife Sue Wilkinson Birdwell; his children, Tony Birdwell and Rita Ervin (Mike) of Greenbrier, TN; his siblings, Odell Birdwell (Francis) of Cottontown, TN, Wayne Birdwell (Harriett), Kenneth Birdwell (Yvonne), Betty Scruggs (Leroy) of Gallattin, TN and Brenda Smith; his grandchildren, Shane Ervin and Dana Davis; and his great grandchildren, Emily Ervin, Levi Davis and Stormi Davis.
