He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Knox and Gertrude Griffin James; his wife Agnes Marie Greer James; and his siblings, Marie Gray, W. H. James and Raymond Leon James.
He is survived by: his daughters, Shirley Marie Heredia (Jeffrey) of Portland, TN and Sandra Darlene Kubasch (Bob) of Franklin, KY; his sister Norma James Andrews (Walter) of Chattanooga, TN; his grandchildren, Angela Bell (Tim), Chris Heredia (Tracey), Rachel Stucy (Stephen), Jennifer Kubasch and Rebekah Fuqua; and his great grandchildren, Jordan, Tyler, Clay, Miles, Annalee, Livi Jo, Cara and Ava.
