He was predeceased by: his former wife Donnie Lee Grooms; his parents, Susie Grooms and Ken Grooms; his siblings, Dewey Grooms, Jessie Grooms, Geraldine Ledford and Juanita Mathis; his daughters, Catherine and Della Louise Grooms; and his great great grandchild Holden Mason.
He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Grooms; his children, Reese Grooms (Penny), Maxine Campbell, Carl Grooms (Joann), William Grooms (Angie), Ricky Grooms (Jackie), Loretta Grooms (Lawrence), Beulah Underwood (Mike) and Timmy Grooms (Felicia); his stepchildren, Delmar Williamson (Pat) and Haskell Howard; and his siblings, Avery Grooms (Brenda), Floyd Grooms (Melissa) and Estell Price. He is also survived by twenty four grandchildren; forty seven great-grandchildren; seven great-great- grandchildren.
