He was predeceased by: his wife Diana Thomas Dunn; his parents, Joseph Charles and Opal Echols Dunn of Virginia; his brother Richard Dunn; and his great-nephew Blake Switow.

He is survived by: his children, Erin Lee (Adam) and Eric Dunn (Ashley); his grandchildren, Emerson, Adeline Dunn and Hudson Lee; his siblings, Jim Dunn (Linda), Brenda Julian and Mary Ashley (Gary); his niece Kathy Switow (John); and his nephews, Chris Julian and Zach Ashley (Danielle).
