He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Nora Hopper, John and Grace Bates; his parents, Earl Bates and Frances Hopper Bates; his brother Eddie Bates; and his sister-in-law Wanda Bates.
He is survived by: his wife Teresa Bates; his sister Vicki Larmer; his brother-in-law Jim Larmer; his mother-in-law Sue Melhorn; his stepfather-in-law Eldon "Mel" Melhorn; and his stepson LaRue Cook. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
