He was predeceased by: his sons, Danny Eugene West and John Phillip West; his parents, John West and Lina West; his siblings, Charlie, Luther, Dan West, Paralee Young, Asalee Warren and Marie Altes; and his half-sister Arvie.

He is survived by: his wife Edna Tapp West; and his sister-in-law Betty West. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
