He was predeceased by: his father Ira Raulston Abernathy Sr.; his brothers, George Abernathy and Ray Abernathy; and his foster brother Buddy Burge. He is survived by: his wife Jean Abernathy; his sons, Michael "Greg" Abernathy (Toni) of Ellijay and Brett Abernathy (Andrew Beck) of Philadelphia, PA; his grandchildren, Steven Abernathy and Samantha Houston; his great grandchildren, Aeden Houston, Mirra Houston, Kenzie Houston, Tess Abernathy and Rori Abernathy; his sister Carol Bailey (Don) of Chatsworth; and his foster brother Terry Stevens.
Flowers will be accepted, however, donations may be made to a charity of your choosing in honor of Mr. Abernathy.
