He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Hooper Burgess and Pansy "Pat" Edith Burgess (Dixon); and his sister Debbie Duncan. He is survived by: his children, Heather Burgess Naaktgeboren (Chris) and Brandon Burgess (Amber); his grandchildren, Clayton Burgess, Liam Naaktgeboren and Gracie Burgess; and his sisters, Jo Slagle, Faye Spurlock and Kay Holt. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.

Visitation was held on Monday, November 18th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Crest Lawn Funeral Home (800 W Jackson St, Cookeville, TN 38501). A funeral service was held on Monday, November 18th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
