He was predeceased by: his parents, William Thomas Haywood, Sr. and Frances Stone Haywood of Virginia; his brothers, Robert Stone Haywood and Charles Edward Haywood; and his son-in-law Kenneth Carter.
He is survived by: his children, William Thomas Haywood III of Peachtree City, Georgia, Sylvia Annette Haywood-Carter of Santa Monica, California, Robert Alton Haywood of Atlanta, Georgia and Susan Haywood Tobelman (David) of Mint Hill; his grandchildren, John Thomas Haywood, William Henry Haywood, Ethan Hortan, Sherod Graham Oppy, David Austin Tobelman, Dylan Elise Haywood, Solon Gabriel Carter and Anna Rose Carter; his great grandchildren, Rain Haywood, Kyla Haywood and Zoe Haywood; and his sisters, Helen Sue Hahn (Fred) of Tuscaloosa, Alabama and Frances Anne Ramsey of Tupelo, Mississippi. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
