He was predeceased by: his parents, Omry Thompson "Fatty" Kirk and Bonnie Loveless Kirk; his wife Beverly Ann Bassham Kirk; and his brother-in-law Frank Watts. He is survived by: his daughters, Robin Kirk Potts and Carla Kirk Underwood (Steve Antle); his grandchildren, Hailey Potts (Justin Attkisson), Abby Underwood and Stephen Kirk Underwood; his great grandchild Micailey Foshee; and his siblings, Johnny Kirk (Marlene) and Martha Kirk Watts (Frank). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association.
