He is survived by: his wife Lillimae Hester Thomas; his children, Elizabeth Ann Kiely (Edward), Dr. Susan Thomas Gray (Dawson) and Lawrence Gray Thomas (Peggy); his stepchildren, Les Hester (Leslie), Benjamin Hester (Tara), Bruce Hester (Elfrena Foord) and Victoria McCullough (Alan); his brother Lewis Carroll Thomas (Marilou); his grandchildren, John Dawson Frierson Gray Jr., Thomas Pierce Gray and Jennifer Stephens; his great grandchildren, Chloe Rayne Cassady and Virginia Lindsay Gray; and his stepgrandchildren, Andrew Hester, Jonathan Hester-McCullough and Megan Hester-McCullough.
