He was predeceased by: his parents, James Eugene Jett and Mary Frances Hickman Jett. He is survived by: his daughter Jennifer McKissack (Akiva) of Columbia; his siblings, Wanda Dean (Jimmy), Deborah Williams (Larry Dean), Diane Kinslow, Beverly Hildenbrandt (Terry), Teresa Jett, Eddie Jett (Jo) and Darryl Jett; and his grandchildren, Jillian McKissack and Patrick McKissack. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
