He was predeceased by: his parents, Fate Franklin Gowan and Martha Elizabeth Tomlin Gowan; and his siblings, Fred Gowan, Charles Gowan, Sammy Gowan, Francis Hall, Barbara Shrimsler and Ruth Hall.
He is survived by: his spouse Barbie Ree Webb; his children, Kenneth Gowan (Debra) of Columbia and Lisa Maupin (Troy) of Bedford County; his brothers, Harry Gowan and Larry Gowan of Columbia; his grandchildren, Brandon Gowan, Kendall Gowan, Chase Maupin and Jared Maupin; and his great grandchild Kaylie Matthews.
