He was predeceased by: his parents, James "Cotton" Milas Rippey, Sr. and Rosemary Crane Rippey; and his nephew William "Bill" Stuart Fleming, VI. He is survived by: his significant other Shannon Bond Rippey; his children, Jessica May Rippey (Sharlie), Katherine Rippey Hinson (Matt) and James Austin Rippey; his sister Sheila Rippey Fleming (Billy); his niece Jennifer Fleming Franks (Michael); his brother-in-law William Kenneth Bond; and his great-nephews, William Elijah Fleming, Michael "Trey" Alan Franks, III, William Christopher Franks and Timothy Miller Kilpatrick.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the James K. Polk Home.
