He was predeceased by: his parents, William Thomas Smith and Mary Alice Wade Smith; his siblings, Rosetta Cleveland, Charlene Alderson and Carl Thomas Smith; and his brother-in-law John Clack.

He is survived by: his significant other Sheridan Gentry of Columbia; his stepdaughter Cristy Amos of Columbia; his siblings, Janie Smith Clack of Spring Hill, Sharon Locke (Bobby) of Spring Hill, Rev. Harry Smith (Dorothy) of Gallatin, Larry Smith (Alice) of Spring Hill and Danny Smith of Columbia; his grandchildren, Jasmine Shaw and Calvin Amos; and his close friends, John, Margaret McCord, Derrick, Charlotte McCord, Gina, William Crutcher, Jason and Rachel McCord.
