He was predeceased by: his parents, Brown Cathey Grimmitt and Margaret Akin Grimmitt; his wife Dorothy Christine "Dot" Curry Grimmitt; and his brothers, Harry Leroy Grimmitt and Bobby Brown Grimmitt.
He is survived by: his stepchildren, Tim Flowers (Debbie) of Hampshire and Pam Flowers of Columbia; his grandchildren, Katie Flowers and Scottie Rummage; his siblings, Danny Wayne Grimmitt (Joyce) of North Carolina and Margaret Ann Grimmitt Adcox (Jimmy) of Jonesboro, Arkansas; and his siblings-in-law, Patricia "Pat" Gilliam Grimmitt of Hampshire and Jimmy Curry (Olivia) of Columbia. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
