He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Wesley Hay, Sr. and Mildred Chapman Hay; and his brothers, Mike Hay, Gary Hay and Howard Wesley Hay, Jr..

He is survived by: his son Steven Lynn Hay of Columbia; his sisters, Sheila Hay Martin (Wayne) of Santa Fe, Tammy Hay Pruitt (Gary) of Hampshire, Carolyn Walker of Murfreesboro and Elaine Hay (Vic Morelles) of Pegram; his sister-in-law Phyllis Hay of Mt. Pleasant; his grandchildren, Eathen Lynn Hay, Alisia Gabriell "Gabby" Hay and Leah Nicole Hay; and his great grandchild River Blake Dye. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
