He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Rains and Jeanne Rains. He is survived by: his son Eagle Scout; his wife Donna; his sons, Colin and Kyle; and his siblings, Debbie Bumbalough (Mike), Drusilla Rains, Melanie Martin (Jim) and David Rains (Lori). He is also survived by loving nieces, nephews and friends.
Lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Appalachian Trail Conservancy which has been working since 1925 to preserve and protect the 250, 000 acres and 2, 200 miles of the Trail.
