She was predeceased by: her parents, James Edward Lewis and Mary Bradford Lewis; her son Joe Louis Blackard; and her grandson Jason Bradley Denman. She is survived by: her children, Brenda Gale Moses (Mark), Teresa Jean Smith (David), Jimmy Ray Smith and J. L. Blackard (April); her grandchildren, Latisha, Kelly, Randall, Gary, Joseph, Crystal, Emily, Matthew, Samantha, Kaitlyn, Reagan and Angel; and her siblings, Frances Spicer (Daniel), Ruby Jacks (Tommy) and Henry Lewis (Beverly).
