He was predeceased by: his father Russell Douglas; and his brother David Douglas. He is survived by: his wife Janice Douglas; his children, Ashley Douglas and Christian Young; his mother Reba Hyden-Douglas; and his sister-in-law Kathy Young. He is also survived by many close friends, neighbors, and coworkers.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, consider honoring LaVern's memory by paying his kindness forward.
