He is survived by: his parents, Gary Mayes and Mary Taylor; his wife Betty Mayes; his children, Joseph Steven Gregory Mayes II (Amber), Jacob Sterling Mayes, Brittany Zane Mayes (Brayden Singletary), Erin Nicole Mayes (Ani) and Mattie Grace Mayes; his siblings, Gary Mayes II, Matthew Mayes, Caroline Mayes Cooper (Michael), Jill Baker (Steve) and Starr Cooper; his nieces, Molly and Ava Cooper; and his grandchildren, Levi Everett and Alice Noelle Mayes. He is also survived by other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
