He was predeceased by: his father Rev. Daymon Owens; his siblings, David, Carl Kenneth and Betty Jones; his granddaughter Laklee Owens; and his father-in-law Raymond Terry.
He is survived by: his wife Virginia Ann "Jenny" Owens; his children, Rev. John Richard Jr. "Johnny" (Lydia) and Alicia Ann Pack (Jeff); his grandchildren, Brittany (Aaron Weldon), Kaylee (Robby Bradshaw), Heather (Staff Sergeant Chase), Emma Pack, Brandon Owens, Nakota Owens, Ella Grace Owens (Ronnie McGhee), Phillip Owens and Bella Owens; his great grandchildren, Aedyn, Eli, Emmalyn and Isaiah; and his brothers, Paul (Debbie Owens), Mitchell (Charllet Owens) and Randy (Gerri Owens). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
