She was predeceased by: her parents, Benjamin Smiddy and Arietta Smiddy; her husband Roy M. Carden; and her siblings, Billy Smiddy, Sue Murray and Wanda Hartness.
She is survived by: her daughters, Penny Mynatt of Maynardville and Diane Ivey (Harold) of Rocky Top; her grandchildren, Barbie Cates (Phil) of Powell and Brian Thomas (Gina) of Clinton; her great grandchildren, Stephen Cates, Brodie Cates (Hanah), Merritt Cates (Nikki), Ivey Stokely (Hunter), Logan Thomas and Ella Thomas; and her great great grandchild Mya Lorraine Cates. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Alzheimer's of Tennessee.
