He was predeceased by: his parents, Eula Fewel Pyeatt and John Dudley Pyeatt Sr.; and his former wife Gail. He is survived by: his son Terry Joe; his wife Barbara Gaynell Stansell of Greenville, SC; his son John Dudley Pyeatt III of New York City; and his sister Martha Buchholz of St. Petersburg, FL. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials in his name be made to the Westmore Church of God Legacy Endowment Fund benefiting senior members OR Lee University, J.D. Pyeatt Scholarship Fund named after Dudley's father who had eight of his eleven adult children attend Lee.
