He was predeceased by: his father William "Bill" Johnston; his grandparents, Boyd, Grace Johnston, Eugene and Alice Sheely; his uncles, Robert Paul Sheely, John Sheely, Jim Sheely and Leroy Patterson; and his stepbrother Ray Ritchie.
He is survived by: his mother Alice Johnston Ritchie (Jimmy) of Cleveland, TN; his son Andrew Tidwell (Kayla) of Kingston, GA; his siblings, Kenny Johnston (Tammy) of Cleveland, TN and Lisa Cook (Jason) of Blue Ridge, GA; his stepsiblings, Alan Ritchie (Cindy), Keith Ritchie (Lynn) and Tammy Ritchie (Al Lively); his grandchildren, Tanner Tidwell, Payton and Maibelle Tidwell; his uncle Ron; his aunts, Betty Savach of Hubbard, OH, Reeda Patterson of Stockbridge, GA and Debbie Sheely of Sun City, AZ; his nephew Jared Johnston; and his niece Keira Cook. He is also survived by nieces and cousins.
