It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Merel Douglas Smith of Clarksburg, Tennessee, born in Westport, Tennessee, who passed away on January 28, 2023, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his father Harbert Gardiner; and his brothers, Billy Harbert Smith and Phillip Smith. He is survived by: his wife Marjorie Nell Smith; his sons, Kevin Smith (Melinda) of Holladay and Kent Smith (Susan) of Yuma; his sisters, Madlyn Bolen of Wildersville, Ella Ray Coleman of McKenzie, Gail Akins of McKenzie, Ellen Wooley (Randall) of Springville and Jan Cozart (Ricky) of Gleason; and his grandchildren, Lindsey Smith of Huntingdon, Anna James of Nashville, Jenna Smith of Dyersburg, Tyson Weller of Henning, Trevor Weller of Camden and Colten Smith of Yuma. He is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren.
