He was predeceased by: his parents, Harvey Poteet and Lillie Mae Poteet; his wife Bonnie Poteet; his son Kenneth Poteet; and his sister Ruby Jean Ely.

He is survived by: his grandchildren, Wendy Tomlinson and Brian Poteet; his great grandchildren, Sydney Thompson, Lindsey Tomlinson and Finley Poteet; and his great great grandchildren, Blaire Thompson and Harris Thompson. He is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.
