She was predeceased by: her parents, Adam Helton and Mary Mullins Helton; her husband Earl Clinton "Boot" Armstrong; her daughter Rinda Simpson; her stepson Allen Armstrong; her grandson Keith Armstrong; and her siblings, Joyce Helton, Eleanor Helton Hunter (Cotton), Mary Louise Hilton and Kenneth Helton.
She is survived by: her children, Fred Armstrong (JoAnn), Ivan Armstrong (Donna) and Robin Smith (David); her stepchild Presley Armstrong; her grandchildren, Savannah Simpson, Peter Armstrong, Garrett Smith, Rachel Smith, Mary Shirley and Heather Carver; and her siblings, Jimmy Helton (Barbara), Eugene Helton (Mary) and Helen Christian. She is also survived by several other grandchildren; several great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Elm Springs Cemetery Fund; Frank Marsh 337 Adam Avenue Church Hill, TN 37642 in Emma's memory.
