He was predeceased by: his parents, Everette Ray and Norma Jean Bombailey Marshall; his former wife Diane Marshall; and his mother-in-law Dottie Davis. He is survived by: his wife Vanessa Marshall; his children, Kristie Dunn, Heather Overbay (Greg) and Danny Raye Gordon (Bridgette); his grandchildren, Matthew Dunn (Carlie), Kirkland Dunn, Andrew, Alex Overbay and Faysal Dorton; his brother Roger Marshall (Waynette); his niece Candace Marshall; his nephews, Ryan Marshall (Brandy), Gabe, Adlee, Parker and Piper; and his aunt Inez Housewright. He is also survived by extended family members and many dear friends.

“It brings me much sorrow to hear of the passing of Danny. I worked with Danny when he was at the Kingsport Fire Department. He always seemed cool, calm, and collected. An even-tempered man, I don't recall him ever being angry or losing his cool. He was a man of few words but much respected. I pray for the family's peace and healing in this time of loss.
