He was predeceased by: his wife Ruby Pauline Winegar (McPeek); his parents, Richard Cox and Pearly May Winegar Thacker; his grandmother Mattie Winegar; and his brother Tom Thacker.
He is survived by: his children, Kathy Derrick (Harold), Mellissa Barton (Aaron Russell), Michael "Mikey" Scott Winegar and Steve Alexander Winegar (Yvette); his grandchildren, Les Derrick, Brettney Barton, Brad Barton (Samantha) and Alexander Winegar (Kirstie); his great grandchildren, Kobe Derrick, Tiah Hill, Elim Barton, Ebbin Barton, Shelton Winegar and Kyleighlynn Winegar; his great great grandchildren, Cyrus Derrick and Nolan Hill; and his siblings, Shirley "Polly" Thacker, Joann Cox Winegar (Ed) and J. H. "Jim" Thacker (Sue). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews.
