With profound sadness, we say goodbye to William Ralph English (Chattanooga, Tennessee), whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul English and Nelle English; and his siblings, David and Carol Lynn. He is survived by: his wife Joan (Grotenhuis); his sons, Paul (Judi), Timothy (Jenny), Daniel (Jenn) and William, Jr.; his siblings, Dwight (Ronnie), Jonathan (Kim), Winnie Sullivan and Jeanette DeLong; and his sister-in-law Joy English. He is also survived by twenty grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.

A burial will be held on Thursday, January 23rd 2025 at 1:30 PM at the Chattanooga National Cemetery (1200 Bailey Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37404). A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 23rd 2025 at 4:00 PM at the Cornerstone Orthodox Presbyterian Church (1813 Long St, Chattanooga, TN 37408).

He died peacefully at home on January 14, 2025, after battling Parkinson's disease for many years.

“I had the honor of knowing Ralph later in life, after his diagnosis with Parkinson's Disease. One thing you can say about Ralph, he met each adversity head on! He made no excuses, and asked no sympathy. As I didn't know him before Parkinson's Disease, as a classmate in Rock Steady Boxing (A program for people with P.D.) he never gave up and was an inspiration to the rest of the class, along with his ever-present help mate, Joan. Rest easy, my friend, you earned it!”
