He was predeceased by: his sons, Leslie Scott and Schuyler; his parents, Leslie Compton and Nolia Compton; and his siblings, Robert, Jimmy and Marjorie.

He is survived by: his grandchildren, Denver, Austin, Harper, Jessie Anne, Weston Margaret and Mary Margaret; his great grandchildren, Bryn, Blakely, Maddie and Hudson; his sister Shirley Terry of Decatur; and his sisters-in-law, Joseph Adams, Dottie Adams of Savannah, Helen Compton of Decatur, Joyce Hornaday of Dacula, Mary Hankins of Atkins and Doris Compton of Decatur. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
