He was predeceased by: his father Willie McCarver; his grandmothers, Margaret Brown and Jenny Mack; his uncles, Tony Brown, James Brown and Robert McMahan; and his cousins, Jacques McMahan, Perez McMahan, Gary McMahan, Senda Greenhill and Mary Greenhill.

He is survived by: his aunts, Margie Brown-Ramsey, Bennie Mae Knox and Johnnie Bell Brown; his mother JoAnn Jones; his son Courtney Birt of Chattanooga, TN; his siblings, Phillip Brown (Katie), April Bramlett (Vernon), Leslie Ross (Calvin), Artina Goldston (Michael), Selena Thompson and Dionte Moore; his uncles, Eugene Brown, Charles Brown and Vonizel Brown; his nieces, LaJayla Summers, Tyra Gates, Tay and Taylor; his great-aunt Daisy Phillips; and his cousins, Terry "Pookie Greenhill and Charles Brown Jr. (Andrew Burgin).
