He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Douglas Bales, Sr. and Doris Shipley; his son Doug Bales (Lil Doug); and his brother Buddy Bales. He is survived by: his son Cody Johnson of Eric Johnson; his siblings, Allan Bales, Danny Rogers, Sharon Cummings, Debbie Watts (Billy) and Ann Bales; his grandchildren, Hunter, Emily and Harlan Bales; and his close friend Jimmy Haygood. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
