He was loved and cherished by many people including: his brother Johnny Douglas; his wife Kathy Brown Douglas; his sons, Karl Douglas, Jr. (Joy) and Richard Douglas (Amanda); his grandchildren, Thomas Douglas, III, Kyle Douglas, Chris Douglas, Austin Douglas and Robert Moore; his great grandchild Mason; his sisters, Earlene McKinney (Randy), Willene Dagnan (Jerry) and Carolyn Lasater; and his sister-in-law Betty "Rea" Clements (Larry). He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.
