He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Gamble and Cleo Gilbert; his significant other Huelett Ware; his son Thomas Gamble III; and his sister Shirley Gilbert Williams.
He is survived by: his daughter Michelle Simpson of Santa Barbara, CA; his stepson Chris Ware (Catherine); his sisters, Polly Hinton (Willie) and Patricia Gilbert Huff; his nieces and nephews, Sabrina Kincaid (Martin) of Douglasville, GA, Chandra Freeman McFarland, Delores Berry, Eric Bone (Angela), Tim Bone (Melinda), Glen Hinton, Elisha Hinton and Darryl Gilbert; and his great-nephew Olandis Bone. He is also survived by four grandsons and two granddaughters.
