He was predeceased by: his parents, Frances Sims Nicely and Maurice Delos Nicely; and his sister Mary Jo Nicely of Fowler, Indiana.. He is survived by: his wife Karen Standefer Nicely; his children, Maury Nicely (Jennifer), Matthew Nicely and Elizabeth Nicely; his grandchildren, Charles Nicely, William Nicely, Anna Nicely and Ava Nicely; his siblings, Judy Main of Danville, IN and Greg Nicely (Donna); and his siblings-in-law, Barbie Standefer and Jim Schreeder (Carolyn). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts to the CHI Memorial Foundation, the victims of Hurricane Helene through Samaritans' Purse, or a favorite charity.
