She was predeceased by: her parents, Howard Saxton and Carriebell Saxton; her husband Pastor Charlie Abernathy; her sister Thelma McKinney; her sons, Charlie Abernathy, Jr. and Michael Abernathy; and her niece Classie Taylor.

She is survived by: her children, Norma Ballanger (Larry), Georgia, Delphia Stone (Sanford), Sharon Abernathy, Diane Abernathy, Leroy Abernathy, Chattanooga of Tennessee and Gary Abernathy (Esther); and her nieces, Roz Matthews (Willie) and Christine Richardson. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
