He was predeceased by: his parents, William Isaac Pate and Mary Katherine Lampley Pate. He is survived by: his daughter Rebecca "Becky" Williams (Randall Marshall); his brother William "Billy" Pate Jr. (Janice); his grandsons, Peter Marshall and Andrew Marshall; his nephew William Pate III; and his close friends, Don Jarvis, Charlie Umbarger, Jim Hood, Jerry Elkins and Buster Raymer.
