Rodney Hunter Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Rodney Hunter in Chattanooga, Tennessee, who passed away on June 17, 2023 at the age of 70. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his father Abraham Hunter; his grandparents, Samuel and Willie Ann Hunter; his sister Cynthia Johnson; his father-in-law Rev. Eli White; and his brother-in-law Jeffrey White.
He is survived by: his mother Elaine Banks Johnson of Chattanooga; his wife Lavonne Kay Hunter (White) of Chattanooga, TN; his daughter Chelsey Tate (William); his granddaughters, Mykah and Maryssa Tate of Mesa, AZ; his siblings, Terrol Johnson and Tena Johnson McClurkin of Cincinnati, OH; his mother-in-law Billie White of Chattanooga, TN; his siblings-in-law, Saundra White of Chattanooga, TN, Gwendolyn Greene (Larry) of Chattanooga, TN, Larry White (Paula) of Memphis, TN and Ronald White (Brenda) of Jacksonville, FL; his niece Phyllis; his nephew Alvin Burgess of Chattanooga, TN; and his brothers, Dr. Kenneth Hicks of Nashville, TN, A. L. Nance of Memphis, TN, Colonel Joe Hermon of Marietta, GA and Robert Thornton of Atlanta, GA. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Rodney Hunter to the following organizations: National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering, Dementia Society of America, American Foundation for the Blind, Foundation Fighting Blindness or National Federation of the Blind.
