With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Mary Stringer Abney of Chattanooga, Tennessee, who passed away on March 19, 2023 at the age of 95. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her father James Polk; and her husband Ernest Edward Abney. She is survived by: her children, Tim Abney (Debbie), Debbie Abney Ritter (Tom) and Vickie Abney Ward (Cliff); her grandchildren, Marcie Carroll (John), Chelsea Abney, Emily Abney, Sarah Beth Abney, Tom Ritter, Jr. (Rayna), Amy Weatherholt (Waylon), Cooper Ward and Jeff Ward (Kelly); and her sister Margaret Stringer Mitchell. She is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren.
