He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Woods Sexton (Martha Bush Sexton); his brother Chester Sexton; his sons, John W. Sexton Jr. and Brian Scott Sexton; and his stepson Larry Exum.
He is survived by: his sister Linda Sexton Smith (Len); his daughters, Caryn Horne, Kristina Reeves (David) and Anne Turner (David); and his stepchildren, Gigi Exum Johnson (Alex) and Joseph Exum. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and great grandchildren.
