He was predeceased by: his parents, Hazel Yancy Beam and John Lit Beam; his siblings, W. M., John L., Mack, Leon, Roy, Irene and Betty; and his grandson Jarrod Michael Purcell.

He is survived by: his aunt Ruth Yancy Johnson; his wife Carolyn Whitehead Beam; his children, Doug Beam (Karen) and Brenda Purcell (Mike); his sister-in-law Cathy Guinn (Mickey); his grandchildren, Zac Beam, Ross Purcell (Shelby) and Lacey Brown (Hunter); his granddaughter-in-law Ashley Purcell; his great grandchildren, Jayton, Tilly Beam, Addie, Austin Purcell and Brody Brown; and his sisters, Marcella Crawford (Willis) and Patricia Wade of Alabama. He is also survived by 27 nieces and nephews.

The family requests that gifts be made to the Parkinson's Foundation or Hospice of Chattanooga.
