James Roy Moates Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of James Roy Moates of Chattanooga, Tennessee, who passed away on March 17, 2023 at the age of 93. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, William Hubert Moates and Mellie Womack Moates; his wife Virginia Moates; and his siblings, Mildred Stancel, Gene Moates, Lawrence Moates, Charles Moates, Sr. and Floyd Moates.
He is survived by: his sister Evelyn Peace; and his nieces and nephews, Linda Chumbler (Doug), Rev. Charles Moates (Alice-Ann), Joy Moates, Judy Moates, Cheryl Moates, Kenneth Moates (Anna), Shirley Lincoln and James Peace (Robin).
In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
