He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur "Jack" Merritt and Ethel Merritt; and his sisters, Elaine Bowling and Sherrill McWhorter. He is survived by: his son Homer; his wife Betty Merritt; his daughters, Amy Merritt, Kimberly Merritt, Misty Frizzell and April Daniel; his grandchildren, Austin Owens, Romie Owens and Bella Gravitt; his great grandchild Emmaline Owens; his sister Judy Roddy; and his brother-in-law Jerry McWhorter. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and beloved friends.
