He was predeceased by: his parents, James C. Porter, Sr. and Esther Johnston Porter Morrison; and his siblings, Arlene Caris, Alice Morgan, Clara Huskey, Willie Mae Heesh, J. C. Porter and Bill Porter.
He is survived by: his nieces and nephews, Jim Morgan, Janice Morgan Massey Middlebrooks, Mike Morgan and Barbara Morgan Cross.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, January 14th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the W. L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home-Ft. Oglethorpe Chapel (555 W Cloud Springs Rd, Rossville, GA 30742). The military honors was held on Wednesday, January 15th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Chattanooga National Cemetery (1200 Bailey Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37404).
