He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Beatrice Carmona and Antonio Carmona; his wife Margaret Jeanne Morring of Chattanooga; his son David (Kelly); his grandson Tyler of Mill Valley, California; his son Daniel (Holly); his grandchild Wren of Nashville, Tennessee; his sister Martha Beatrice Carmona Ruiz of Durango, Mexico; his brother-in-law David Morring; and also Marika of Eugene, Oregon..

He graduated from the University of Coahuila, in Saltillo, Mexico in 1958 with a B.S. in Agronomy/Agricultural Engineering and in 1963 with a M.S. in Soils Science from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville under a Rockefeller Foundation Fellowship.
