Everett Layne Hixson Obituary

We are sad to announce that on March 17, 2023, at the age of 93, Everett Layne Hixson (Chattanooga, Tennessee), born in Dunlap, Tennessee passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his close friends, Cheri Harr and Patty Rocca; his wife Shirley Griffin Hixson; his daughter Sara Elayne Hixson (Laynie); his son-in-law Michael Hankins; his parents, George Hixson and Loy Hixson; and his brothers-in-law, William Harper and Kyle Smith.

He is survived by: his children, Chattanooga, Combustion Engineering, Everett L. Hixson Jr. (Bo) and George G. Hixson; his grandchildren, Everett L. Hixson (Rett), Samuel H. Hixson (Therese) and Virginia H. Cooke (Andrew); his great grandchild Everett L. Hixson IV (Layne); his sisters, Shirley Harper and Gaynell Smith; his cousin Georgia; and also, Carol Hixson and Peggie Hixson.

In lieu of flowers, and in keeping with Dad's wishes, please make donations to the Chattanooga Area Food Bank, the St. Elmo United Methodist Church Food Pantry, or the First Centenary United Methodist Church homeless ministries.
