He was predeceased by: his parents, Varney W. Stephens and Lois Stephens (Tinsley); his wife Waltraud M. Guldener; his son Edward E. Stephens, Jr.; and his siblings, James "Smokey" Stephens and Margaret Couch.
He is survived by: his children, James V. Stephens (Rená Stephens) and Patricia Bettis (Greg Bettis); his sister Mary J. Stephens; his grandchildren, Blake E. Stephens, Miranda and Megan Bettis; and his great grandchildren, Diamond, Iceley, London Stephens, James and Marilyn Lyons.
